Banana Plugs are used as a high quality and reliable connection into a speaker cabinet, amplifier binding post, or speaker wall plate binding post. There are many types of banana plugs available for audio use.
The most common types are either single banana plugs or dual banana plugs. While dual banana plugs are often the economical solution the spacing of binding posts in not universal across the electronic industry. If you are unsure of your spacing single banana plugs are your best option
Most commercial power amplifiers feature dual binding posts that accept dual banana plugs but it is recommended that you either measure the distance between binding posts or use single banana plugs. For high end audio systems either gold plated dual banana plugs or gold plated single banana plugs are used. The purity of the gold plating in a banana plug with limit the amount of audio noise in your system and provide the best system performance. Some audiophiles prefer gold plated locking banana plugs that feature a tip that expands inside the binding post to lock the connection into place. Gold plated single banana pugs fit best into speaker wall plates, non-standard amplifiers and audiophile grade speaker cabinets.
